Limitation of Liability - Surcharges
To claim your surcharge credit, your returned turbo must meet with the following specifications:
Must be a like-for-like exchange
The unit must be whole and with none of the key components missing or (in the case of compressor or turbine housings and actuators) damaged beyond remanufacture serviceability. This includes, but is not limited to, the turbine housing, the compressor housing, the core assembly, the actuator and any clamps or bolts that connect the key components together.
The unit must not be heavily corroded
Castings must be free from cracks, fractures and other damage that renders it unserviceable
The unit must have not had endured accidental or deliberate damage
If any of these points are not satisfied, Recoturbo reserves the right to refuse all or partial credit of the surcharge.
In the case of loss or damage by carriers, you are not covered if you did not use our dedicated collections process, as arranged by ourselves. Each return must be booked with us via phone or our collections email address.
All our products come with a standard 12-month manufacturer's warranty, provided that they have been fitted in accordance with the vehicle manufacturers and our fitting instructions.
Proof and date of purchase will be required before any warranty claim is considered.
Turbos must be returned complete, any attempts to dismantle or repair the unit yourself will invalidate the warranty.
The warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the turbocharger, the warranty does not cover the cost of any labour or materials required to remove and refit the turbocharger.
The majority of our remanufactured turbochargers come with a 'One turbocharger, no labour, no quibble' warranty. This means that if you or your customer suffers a failure suspected to be the fault of our supplied turbo, we will replace the first turbo immediately without delay. However, it is your responsibility to contact us immediately, so that we can raise a warranty case, send out a replacement unit (if required) and if necessary, speak with you or your customer to try to ascertain the nature of the fault and advise on how to prevent subsequent failures if we suspect an external factor (such as oil contamination, blocked DPF filter or catalytic converter) may have led to the failure.
If a turbo is not included under our 'No Quibble' warranty, the product is covered by the standard 12-month manufacturer's warranty. Under the standard 12-month warranty, we will inspect and repair or replace the item as required if it is found to be at fault. If it is not found to be at fault, you will be liable for the cost of any repair/replacement, any carriage fees and a £25 inspection fee (if applicable).
No liability will be accepted if the turbocharger boost settings have been changed to outside the figures recommended by the original vehicle manufacturer or if any device has been used to modify them. This includes remapping of the vehicles ECU to change parameters beyond the vehicle manufacturers recommended settings. The boost setting must always be checked after fitting to comply with this warranty.
Proof, in the form of receipts and service records/book, may be required to verify the proper vehicle maintenance has been carried out, as per manufacturers recommendations. Particular attention should be paid to oil and filter changes. Failure to comply with manufacturers service requirements invalidates this warranty.
Although sympathetic to every warranty claim, in the case of 12-month manufacturer warranty units or second unit onward 'no quibble warranty' turbochargers, only those that fail due to defective workmanship or parts are warrantable. Failure due to circumstances or conditions outside of our control cannot be accepted under our warranty. To this end, we highly recommend that your turbocharger is fitted by someone possessing the necessary expertise, tools and knowledge to do so. Incorrect fitting, poor engine maintenance and condition, insufficient oil or air filtration could all lead to a rejection could all lead to a rejection of your warranty claim.
If you wish to make a warranty claim, please call our dedicated technical helpline on 01302 896460. A thorough examination of all turbo components may be carried out before a decision is made on the validity of the warranty and where appropriate a report will be issued on the findings.
If a claim goes unresolved, a third party independent engineers report may be recommended. If we have a disagreement about the warranty that we are unable to resolve, Recoturbo will abide by the decision of an agreed arbitrator.
Where repair work is carried out on a customer's own turbocharger, the warranty is limited to the parts supplied and the workmanship involved in the repair. This warranty shall not exceed 12 months from the date of rebuild/repair.
This supplier warranty is in addition to any statutory rights which you may be entitled to exercise as a consumer.
